WILLIAM ALIOU

From the beginning, creativity sparked William’s interest in things overlooked, forgotten, and neglected. William’s work consists of both the beautifully decayed and beautifully thriving. Life, Death, and Concept: Permanent captures of an ever-changing model. Aside from exploration and abandoned photography, he enjoys his fair share of photographing other mediums. He is intrigued by what is, what was, and what will be.

MARIA BARRESI

Maria Barresi enjoys being on the SCSU campus as a senior citizen. She appreciates the variety of activities sponsored by the English department. Her grandchildren think it’s cool that she is a student!

BELINDA BARTLEY

Belinda Bartley is a junior at SCSU and is working towards an English degree with a concentration in Creative Writing. She has absolutely no idea what she’s going to do with her life but plans to spend her time after graduation writing more stories, traveling around the country, and petting as many dogs as she can. She would like to thank her mother, as well as professor Tim Parrish for giving her the evil eye in class until she participates in discussions.

NINA BARTLOMIEJCZYK

Nina Bartlomiejczyk is a senior in English Secondary Education. She enjoys writing and playing music with her two bands (Stampeter and Summer Camp Crush), pretending she is a nymph druid in D&D, being a Cool Camp Counselor ™, and admiring the roundest of frogs. She lives in Monroe, Conn.

CHRISTOPHER BRUNO

Christopher is a stray dog, ear mangled from hard living, joy in his trot as he scarfs precious trash. His poems are like a parked car in a vacant lot— vaguely menacing, cold steel in winter, giving shade in brutal summer to feral cats and native weeds. Offering respite in all seasons, an uncomfortable coziness available only in dire straits. His poems have heft— hold them in your hand, they might offer a lick, maybe a bite.

CHRISTOPHER BUCKRIDGE

Chris Buckridge is a senior majoring in English (Creative Writing). He was born in Canton, OH and moved to Brooklyn, NY in 2000 to be a musician. After accomplishing his goal of touring in a van and not making any money, Chris moved to New Haven and returned to school in 2015. He looks forward to living on a mountain in Vermont, pointing at trees and wildlife, and not making any money.

KIERSTEN CONNER

Kiersten Conner is a sophomore at SCSU majoring in English. She hopes to be a high school English teacher and one day, a college professor. Her hobbies include writing and traveling with friends.

SAMANTHA DEMARCO

Sami Demarco graduated from SCSU with her bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts (Photography) in the Fall of 2019. She is currently continuing her work with wildlife photography. If you are interested in viewing more of her work, you may visit her website at samidemarcophotography.com.

KARLYN JACKSON

Karlyn Jackson is a senior English major with a concentration in Creative Writing and a minor in Asian Studies. She loves to travel, watch anime, and get lost down the rabbit hole that is the world-wide-web under the guise of “research.” In her free time, she enjoys sleeping.

GENEVIEVE JASER

Genevieve Jaser is a junior who has come to realize it doesn’t matter what the hell people think of her. She’s the type of person who asks way too many questions, checks her teeth in the rear-view mirror while she’s driving, and laughs when she falls down multiple flights of stairs. Yet, she is beginning to love the strange ways that people work, and hopes that others may notice strangeness and embrace it, too.

MIRANDA KROSS

KAT LEE

Kat Lee crawled out of a dumpster wearing a bandana and a motorcycle jacket with preternatural writing abilities.

SOPHIA ONETO

Sophia Oneto is a junior majoring in English with a concentration in Creative Writing and minoring in History. She’s been writing creatively since she was in eighth grade. She has no plans to stop. That is both a warning and a promise.

MARI SPALLONE

Mari Spallone transferred this year to SCSU to pursue a BA in English. She was named a CT Student Poet for the 2017/18 academic year while attending Middlesex CC. She hopes to have more of her work published, plays the cello for fun, not profit, and loves buttered popcorn, with or without the movie.

MAX VADAKIN

Max Vadakin is a senior (citizen) English major and Film minor at Southern. Known as “Maddog” to many and as “Ice” to his parole officer and many federal databases, Max thinks of himself as a lonely bachelor with a heart of gold, even if his mother has labeled him as “not approachable.” After he graduates, Max plans on continuing to remain alive for as long as he possibly can in an attempt to break the world record of oldest living person to hold on to their 401(k).
